Carry On...

Here's something new!
This is a multi-color fairisle knapsack with jersey tubular drawstring and braided cotton strap. It's made from 100% ringspun cotton yarn with a woven interior lining. I imagine that if this was mine, I would have it on my back the whole summer while riding around on my bicycle, waiting for the sun to bleach out all the colors.

This item will probably end up in my shop if there is enough interest in it. A note on how the shop will work: I will have a core group of silhouettes and shapes that I will work with regularly, but specific patterns and colorways will only be available for a limited period of time before I update with something new. I'm hoping that this will keep the items special and prevent me from getting too bored with production. Eventually, I will also have a section for one-off creations for the wild at heart to enjoy too.

New Knap!

Hi, I'm Here!

California was a dream! I loved every minute of it.
I couldn't stop thinking about knitting the whole drive home, because I knew that a beautiful box of yarn was waiting for me. This is ringspun cotton in a sampling of spring colors, my favorite. It knits really nicely and has a super-soft handfeel, I have been dreaming about this yarn.

So, now it's time to get busy. I am hoping to launch my online store by the end of April. I know I keep saying that it will be ready soon...I mean, it is ready...there's just nothing inside of it yet. I'll be working on new spring prototypes in the next few weeks and will try to get everything up and running as soon as possible.

In the meantime, here is a sampling of something springy. New yarn, I love you.

Internet Dreams

Last week felt productive, though I only touched my knitting machine to give a short demo. The gorgeous 35 degree weather we've been having here has been pushing us all out of our homes, energy has been restored! I went to the Abstract Resistance opening at the Walker two weekends ago and met a new friend, Jennifer Murphy. Through giddy conversation we both realized that we have been admiring each others work for some time, it was like finding a new friend on Flickr but in real life Minneapolis. We exchanged studio visits during the past week, sat in each others respective workspaces, and talked a lot. I like listening to Jennifer talk about her work and life, she's really soothing, thoughtful, and confident. Plus, her work is incredible. I could listen to her talk about it for days. This new friendship was a nice reminder for me to get off the internet and spend more time building relationships the way we used to, in person.

That being said, my head has been absolutely BURIED in my new huge computer this week. I have been working on a website, organizing spreadsheets, answering emails and so on, and so on. The website will be done very soon but the shop will take a little bit longer, so please be patient if you are waiting for news about when things will be available for purchase.

I had a dream about Tavi last night. I was at the bar in a coffee shop and I looked down and she was right there. I was so excited to see her and said hello right away, but she snubbed me! I remember feeling really tall for the first time in my life. I don't think Tavi would really snub anybody in real life, I have more faith in her than that, but it sure was funny having the Internet in my dreams. I didn't have time to refresh the page before I woke up.
