Poof!

Here is an image of the Litill + ALL collaboration for the E.R. Butler window display in New York. Lauren's new terrariums are really big and the glass shapes are so cool. I love this one perched on top of a bulbous pedestal, the yellow polka dots are inside too! Lauren and E.R. Butler are hosting an opening to celebrate the new display on Thursday, September 9th from 6-8 p.m. Stop by to say hello if you are in the neighborhood, I will just be getting home from Paris and will probably be snuggled up in bed.

I am leaving on Wednesday morning. I am not ready yet! Today I must figure out how to make my non-slip hangers look like they're not from Target. I missed out on my opportunity to have French lessons, there's just no time left. And, I'm a little bummed that Garance just shipped off to New York, I was hoping so hard for a celebrity sighting. She fascinates me.

Midgie in a Mini

Here's another preview of what's to come this fall, a new knit mini. This one has two welt pockets on the front, for hands, or pencils, or trouble! It's finally not so hot today, I'm actually a little chilly and it's great. Hot coffee, yes please. Preparations for Paris are still crazy, but I haven't lost it yet...just a few more days and then I'm off to Iowa for a pre-Europe getaway for another 30th birthday party.

If you live in New York, keep your eyes peeled for the new window display at E.R. Butler at 55 Prince Street (Spring), where Litill terrariums are dangling from and resting upon a series of knit structures. You'll know when you see it, there's even a little familiar face on the window!

Just a Box of Rainbow

I started watching Freaks and Geeks last week for new late night episodes. I was surprised to learn that the show is ten years old already. I'm always the last to jump on the wagon when it comes to television shows. I don't dislike TV, I just move really slowly. Anyways, we mistakenly watched the last episode first, the one that highlights the Grateful Dead album, American Beauty. I think this is why I was drawn in so quickly because I just love coming-of-age stories, when they're done right, and the Grateful Dead has a locked spot in my heart. I have many of my own happy "coming-of-agey" memories specifically related to this album, it's almost too much to handle and the imprint on my life is permanent.

Well, that was just a little tidbit to relate to the title of this post, another silly pun for me to delight over. I am sending these happy coils off to Lauren (Litill) to be installed in an upcoming collaborative window display at E.R. Butler in New York, featuring her beautiful terrariums lounging on top of cushy knits. I don't know if I will be able to make it to the opening in September, but Lauren promised to use a tripod to document the work, so photos of the final display will come later.

And finally, I'm back on stripes, again.

Party Grrrrrl

There's a new pant coming to the ALL Shop this fall. The Cuffed Ankle Pant fits like a legging towards the top, but breaks open in the knee, calf, and ankle for just a little extra wiggle room. A turn-back cuff at the ankle makes these decidedly "more pant," falling just above the top of your shoe. Maybe you've heard of the "jegging?" I believe it is becoming a widely used fashion term (unofficially sponsored by the GAP) to combine jeans and leggings into one garment. These aren't really like that at all, except in declaring that they are different than the other style of pants we've been selling.

The t-shirt you see on Lindsay was made for me by ETC as a Christmas present in 2008. It's a lot cooler than the pants, but it will never be for sale...

Making Outfits

The colors and patterns in this Mondo Cheeto Poof Topper remind me an awful lot of my summer wardrobe when I was a kid. Looks just like a pair of spandex shorts I might have had, or maybe some gymnastics leotards. It makes me remember how I have been entertained by clothing my entire life. "Making Outfits" was an ongoing, and highly entertaining activity my friend Holly and I would practice when we were very young, up until we were in grade school. We would always do it at her house because her parents had a 35mm camera and a video camera we could use, I don't know if we were even using our camera anymore at that point. I liked using her clothes because they were probably fancier than mine, and she had make-up! (I wasn't allowed to wear make-up until I was sixteen, and had lost interest by then anyways). We would assemble striking, predictable ensembles and layer on some burgundy lip-liner and heavy eye make-up. Then we would spend hours taking the perfect pictures of the other. I thought we were beautiful, but really, I had a mouth full of metal, bad bangs, and seed bead strands in my hair. Holly was combating pre-teen acne and had knobby knees. These are very, very fond memories for me...little tidbits from a different life.

Keep Moving...

I'm exhausted.
So much work to do and so little time.
Here are some snapshots from the studio this week, we have been very busy!
Is this a dream? Or, a dream inside of a dream? Or what about a dream inside of a dream, inside of a dream? Three layers? I'll dig deeper...

It's Not So Far...

This time of year always goes by so fast, the end of summer is waving good-bye. Still so much to do, and so little time! I need to fill a suitcase full of sweaters...maybe two...But, Paris in September! My heart is happy! France may be punctuated with an impromptu trip to New York, again, to be present for the unveiling of a different kind of collaboration.

And then? Who knows! My future is a mystery, a big question mark.
Anyways, I can't be concerned with that at the moment. I need to stay focused on the matters at hand! I started by finding the Eiffel Tower.
